The Heart of Salsa

Almost all of the numerous examples in the article are here in single-track (type 0) Standard MIDI File format. Example 6 is in multitrack (type 1) format, since it includes a <I>clave</I> part, which is mapped to MIDI channel 10. Examples 9 through 18 do not have the <I>clave</I> sequenced in; the correct <I>clave</I> is indicated at the beginning of each notated example in the article. All you have to do is sequence it in yourself; an excellent first step in the process of becoming a fluent <I>salsero</I> or <I>salsera</I> . Note that most of the examples begin with a bar of silence to accommodate pickups, and although repeats are indicated in the printed music, you will have to loop the MIDI files.
